The deadline to sign up for the Sponsor letters for National DAR Scholarships is January 5 in the counselor's office.

The local DAR Scholarship deadline is Monday, February 5.  They are due in the counselor's office by 3:00 PM. 

Please watch the due dates, how the packet is to be organized and sent in and ask if you need help!

Also, achievealabama.org is a college and scholarship site for Alabama students.

ASDAR Scholarship Opportunities

The 
Alabama Society DAR will award two $1500.00 scholarships to the 2018 graduating class.  ASDAR scholarship applications MUST be received by the scholarship committee chair by January 8, 2018.

NSDAR Scholarship Opportunities

Each year NSDAR offer merit and financial needs scholarships.  While some of these scholarships are for advanced study, many are available for graduating seniors.  A listing of the available scholarships, their criteria for applying and the application form along with detailed information are available at www.dar.org

DAR administration will have a meeting in December for students as well as parents to explain the correct process for each scholarship.  Look and listen for dates and times!

Home Service Club

A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded from the HSC.  The scholarship is open to seniors who are enrolled in college by fall of 2018.   Look at the requirements before applying.Applicants are required to "like" The Home Service Club's Facebook page to be considered.

Smith Scholarship Foundation

This scholarship provided assistance to high school seniors who have "given back" to their community through volunteer activities or care of family while overcoming financial and personal challenges.  The program provided up to $15,000 a year in financial assistance plus opportunities for study abroad, professional training through its internship program as well as mentors who will assist.  Visit the website www.smithscholarships.com for additional information.l
The deadline for applications with letters of recommendation is January 5, 2018.  Proof of filing FASFA must be submitted with the application.

SunTrust Off to College Scholarship Sweepstakes

High school seniors can start entering on September 12 and can enter online once during each period.  Two $500.00 scholarship winners will be randomly chosen every two weeks beginning on or about October 30 until May 14, 2018.  Enter now at suntrust.com/offtocollege

Marshall County Chapter of University of Alabama Alumni

Marshall County Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni does not have a separate application for local scholarships.  ​​The following is information from the Alumni Scholarship websitealumni.ua.edu/scholarships
December 15 is the priority date to submit both the UA application for admission and UA application for scholarships portal in order to receive consideration for scholarship review campus-wide.


Alabama School Public Relations Association Scholarship

The Alabama School Public Relations Association is a statewide coalition of professional school communicators. ALSPRA offers financial support to students who plan to enroll in an Alabama college or university after high school graduation and who plan to seek a degree in communication, public relations or a related field. Student members who are eligible may apply for the education scholarship program offered at the beginning of each calendar year and awarded at the annual ALSPRA Conference in mid-Spring.

Progressive Women of Northeast Alabama Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to femaile students demonstrated need and a sincere concern for issues that affect women and families and planning on attending Northeast..  Recipient must reside in DeKalb, Jackson or Marshall County.  The award will provide last dollar support for the recipient renewable for a maximum of six semesters of study.  Deadline is January 19, 2018.  Applications are available in the Counselor's Office.

Redfin Scholarship

This scholarship is for a senior with a 3.5 GPA or better and planning on attending college.  To access the scholarship application go to:  www.redfin.com/resources/scholarship.  The application period occurs twice a year, once from November 1 - January 31 and then May 1 - July 31.  Be sure to complete the application and the essay question.

NursingSchoolAlmanac Scholarship

This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is planning on pursuing a college education in nursing.  Deadline for applying is August 31, 2018.  Interested students may visit the website https://nursingschoolsalmanac.com and click the banner on the right-hand side for details on the scholarship as well as the application form.  

2018 Synced Seniors Scholarship

Alabama Teachers Credit Union is opening their scholarship application process on January 1, 2018.  The following requirements must be met:  ATCU member in good standing, a GPA of 2.0 or higher, official transcript, letter of acceptance to a college, provide, ATCU with one (1) letter of reference from a non-relative, submit a one-page essay describing why education matters to your community and complete and submit the application.  Visit atcu.com for an application and official rules.  Deadline is April 13, 2018.

CollegeCounts Scholarship

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to apply for this scholarship:
Maximum of 26 on the ACT, minimum of 2.75 GPA, demonstrate a financial need and planning on applying to a two or four year school.
